Public affairs analyst and good governance advocate, Eugene Azuka Uzum, has urged the Delta State Government to end the era of fragmented broadcasting by establishing a single ultramodern digital television and radio station with wide-reaching transmission capacity.
Uzum, a lawyer, made the call amid rising concerns over misinformation and politically motivated disinformation fueling tension across the state. He argued that a centralised broadcast hub would ensure accurate, timely, and consistent public information while strengthening government communication strategies.
“It is unacceptable that decades after its creation, Delta still operates a disjointed broadcast system, while neighbouring states like Abia, Anambra, and Edo already enjoy the benefits of unified transmission,” he stated.
He stressed that consolidating the state’s broadcasting infrastructure would not only improve information flow but also slash operating costs, optimise budgetary allocations, and guarantee regular upgrades of broadcast technology.
“Whatever has delayed this crucial reform must be addressed now,” Uzum insisted. “A modern, unified digital station is not just a communication tool — it’s a necessity for transparency, stability, and progress in Delta State.”
