The Friday Osanebi Foundation (FOF) continued on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 to live up to its mandate when it disbursed another N10million to recipients of the second tranche of the Foundation’s scholarship awards, at a ceremony in Asaba where the Foundation’s Chairman, Rt. Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi also received the Award of Excellence for admirable representation and human capital development.
The award was presented to Osanebi, who is also the Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, by the Student’s Unions Government (Parliament), Delta State.
The FOF scholarship award went to 100 students in tertiary institutions, each of which were presented with their cheques as their names were called out at the Cabana Hotel, NTA Road, Asaba venue of the scholarship awards.
At the event graced by dignitaries that included the Delta North Chairman of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Moses Idu , Rt. Hon. Osanebi reiterated that the scholarship awards by the FOF was born out of passion and desire to touch lives in line with the biblical teaching that a giver never lacks.
“I know what it makes not to have money. My awards are not for the rich. It is for the less privileged. I want to use this medium to call on other well meaning Deltans to join hands with this Foundation, in order to reach more Nigerians because the Foundation alone cannot touch all.
“Reports from the first tranche payment of N10,000 indicates that all funds disbursed were judiciously applied, also on good authority and judgment from the students’ academic reports, the scholarship has played a major role in aligning our beneficiaries with the core mandate of vision, which is raising academic giants,” Osanebi stated.
He urged the fortunate beneficiaries of this year’s awards to return to their campuses with renewed vigour to break new grounds and achieve excellence in their academic pursuit in their various fields of learning.
“For those from this Foundation who will make first class, be sure of a promise that you will get a job in a multi-national company,” he said.
“As young people, we must shun all appearances of social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, armed robbery and kidnapping and prostitution. Available indices confirm that no youth ever involved in the above mentioned vices ever lived beyond 45 years,” Osanebi cautioned.
Speaking earlier, Delta North PDP Chairman, Moses Idu commended Rt. Hon. Osanebi for his kind gesture in uplifting the wellbeing of the less privileged. “Friday Osanebi makes us happy in PDP by his acts of giving in Delta State. He is not doing it because he is the richest in the state, but he is empowering 100 persons from 100 families,” Idu said.
He said PDP could afford to make noise because there are people like Osanebi in the party. “To those fortunate to be empowered, you owe him (Osanebi) prayers.
Idu urged Osanebi not to relent in doing what he’s doing, and should not listen to distractions from people. “Keep doing what you are doing according to your covenant with God,” Idu urged Osanebi.
