FUPRE commends NCDMB’s Ogbe for driving local content, sustainable growth; calls for multi-sector collaboration on energy transition

The Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has lauded the leadership of Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), for what it described as “visible and impactful strides” in advancing local content and promoting sustainability within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

In a statement jointly signed by the Center’s Director, Dr. Emeka Elemike, and Deacon Okezi Odugala, Deputy Director and External Partnership Liaison, the FUPRE-CSD said Ogbe’s achievements at the helm of NCDMB demonstrate “capable management, visionary leadership, and a firm commitment to national growth.”

The Center urged stakeholders across the public and private sectors to join hands with the NCDMB in sustaining the momentum of the Board’s innovations, especially as Nigeria navigates the global transition toward cleaner energy and sustainable industrial practices.

“As the world shifts toward a low-carbon future, collaboration between regulatory agencies, academic institutions, and industry operators has become crucial,” the statement read. “The NCDMB’s current direction under Engr. Ogbe aligns with these global imperatives, and we are eager to strengthen partnerships that support both economic and environmental sustainability.”

Positioning itself as a key driver of sustainability education and innovation, FUPRE-CSD—housed within Africa’s first petroleum university and the sixth of its kind globally—reaffirmed its readiness to work with NCDMB on implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The collaboration, it said, will emphasize research, capacity building, and optimized utilization of local content resources for a resilient energy future.

Describing Ogbe as “a cerebral and focused technocrat who is walking the talk,” the Center maintained that his leadership at NCDMB deserves broad-based support from all stakeholders to fully realize the Board’s statutory mandate and to deepen Nigeria’s sustainable development footprint.
