Group berates Senator Nwoko for failing to fulfil campaign promise

By Hendrix Oliomogbe

A group, Delta North Political Survey Group (DNPSG) has slammed Senator Ned Nwoko over his failure to attract tangible constituency projects to Delta North in the last 18 months of his sojourn in the upper legislative arm.

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja last weekend, the group, which champions the infrastructural and economic empowerment of Anioma nation, derided Senator Nwoko for not fulfilling his electoral campaign promises to the people.

The statement, which was signed by the National President, Prof. Michael Okoh and Secretary+General, Dr. Benard Omenogor said that the lawmaker had not only breached the social contract between him and his constituents, but has also fallen short of effective representation in the National Assembly.

Okoh and Omenogor challenged the politician to present his scorecard based on verifiable facts on either completed or ongoing constituency projects initiated or inherited from his predecessors in the Senate.

They said: “Beyond online reports on self acclaimed achievements and project proposals, there is nothing practically on ground to show for his eighteen months stint so far in the National Assembly.”

The duo frowned at what they referred to as “excessive media hype based on self acclaimed performance, which only exist on social media platforms and imaginative realm of support for the Idumuje Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area born lawmaker.

DNSG contended that it is a political miscalculation for the Senator to attempt to compel the state government to fund the Okpai Electricity step down and the completion of the Ogwashi-Uku Dam project.

Okoh and Omenogor noted that as a federal lawmaker, the proper thing for Senator Nwoko was to have presented them as his constituency projects and push for their execution in fulfillment of his campaign promises to the people of Delta North.

The group insisted that the lawmaker had done nothing significant so far to justify his election even as it carpeted his social media handlers for de-marketing his activities instead of promoting and projecting same to the world, due to their lack of basic professional training and etiquette of journalism.

They added: “Whether Senator Nwoko dumps the PDP for the APC or not, he would certainly be interrogated about his performance in the Senate come 2027. There would be no hiding place for any politician who failed to deliver as they would be voted out in 2027.

“We also condemned in very strong terms the insensitivity of the lawmaker to the economic empowerment of the people as opposed to the presentation of hand outs in the name of empowerment. The Senator should stop giving fish to the people and instead teach them how to catch fish.”

The group expressed concern that only five out of 20 indigenes of the district were engaged in the Abuja office of the Senator while the rest, majorly women were from other parts of the country.

The group said that it was quite disgusting to note that the political power house and those who stood by Senator Nwoko and fought for his electoral victory were left in limbo soon after the election without a thank you from him, adding:

“Judgement day is just around the corner when every elected and appointed politician would give account of their performances in office. The political savvy and consciousness of the people has reached an unimaginable crescendo,”
