Delta Fresh Vision (DFV), a group committed to supporting the Delta State Government of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has chided the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State over its hasty conclusion that the “synergy between the Oborevwori administration and the Federal Government amounts to a planned defection by Rt. Hon. Oborevwori into the APC.”
Describing the APC position as disinformation being spread to the public, DFV said that the party did not take into account the administrative model of the Oborevwori administration in arriving at its hasty conclusion.
The group’s statement reads:
THE SYNERGY BETWEEN THE OBOREVWORI ADMINISTRATION OF DELTA STATE AND THE FG – THE WAY WE UNDERSTAND IT
The DELTA FRESH VISION is an NGO committed to good governance, capacity building, and citizen participation in governance. Delta Fresh vision also aims to be a bridge between government and the governed.
The group is a committed supporter of the M.O.R.E Agenda of the Oborevwori administration.
In the light of the above, The DELTA FRESH VISION has elected not to be silent on the raging disinformation being spread to the public that the deliberate synergy between the Oborevwori administration and the Federal Government amounts to a planned defection by Rt. Hon. Oborevwori into the APC.
In jumping into that hasty conclusion, the APC, the main harbingers of that disinformation certainly did not take into account the administrative model of the Oborevwori administration.
The Delta State Government is, perhaps the highest contributor to the Federation Account, in terms of its oil production level. That alone guarantees a symbiotic relationship between Delta State and the Federal Government. We should note that the Federal government, unless perhaps for the FCT, does not have any spatial location, as all of its space is within States.
Delta State is the only one in the Federation that has as many as 4 Ports, all of which are now technically moribund. They are the Warri, Sapele, Koko and the Burutu Ports. Domiciled in Delta State are also the Warri Refinery, the now dysfunctional Delta Steel Company, and a host of other Federal Government-owned establishments. There is also the planned coastal road from Koko to Lagos which has been kept in abeyance for a long time due to alleged paucity of funds.
Faced with these plethora of challenges, Governor Oborevwori knows the importance of of maintaining a healthy synergy with the Federal Government in order to actualize his M.O.R.E Agenda, which he sees as a social contract with the Citizens of Delta State.
Noting that there are a lot of Federal Government roads that need his attention for the use of Deltans, the Oborevwori administration is already giving speedy attention to the completion of the 149 kilometer Asaba – Ughelli dual carriage way (a Federal Road). The Oborevwori administration has also constructed a Faculty building and lecture halls at the Federal Government-owned Maritime University, Okerenkoko, as well as a road to the permanent site of the University.
In enhancing the quality of human capital development in the health sector, the Delta State government last year donated a 32-seater bus to the College of Nursing Sciences, Onicha Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area (Satellite Campus) of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba for easy movement of personnel.
These ever-growing areas of inevitable synergy between the Delta State Government and the Federal government may have influenced the statement of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s statements during the 93rd Urhobo Day Celebrations
at Uvwiamuge, which ran thus: “That is why as Governor, I have maintained cordial relationships with elected and appointed public officials of other political parties. I believe that we can disagree without being disagreeable and learn to separate politics from governance. “This attitude of tolerance, mutual understanding, and cooperation are imperative for peace and sustainable development.”
Governor Oborevwori also used the occasion to emphasize that his administration needs the Federal government just as the Federal Government needs the State.
Unfortunately, the APC in Delta through its agents have twisted Governor Oborevwori’s resolve to cultivate a healthy working relationship with the Federal Government as a veiled attempt to cross carpet to the APC. The opposition party forgets, as the Delta State Hon. Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza stated in his New Year message to Deltans, that “Politics is over and now is the time for governance ”
It is quite unfortunate that the APC in Delta State is unable to grasp the truth that the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is a Governor of all Deltans and not a Governor for PDP alone, just as the President, Ahmed Tinubu is the President for all Nigerians and not for APC alone.
For instance, when the Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is also a Deltan by birth, decided to flag off her project christened “Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment Recapitalization grant for women petty traders,” she chose Delta as her first state of call. The First Lady of Delta State, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori had said of the visit “I commend the First Lady for making Delta State her first choice for the flag-off of the programme and for her efforts in changing lives and uplifting the less privileged across the 36 States of the country and FCT.
The synergy between Delta and the Federal Government and other political parties became very evident during the marriage ceremony of Governor Oborevwori’s son, Clinton Oborevwori, and his heartthrob, Knowledge Davidson. Dignitaries from all walks of life and from all political divides, thronged the occasion, including a special envoy of the President, Hon. Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN.
Could these be the reasons why the APC in Delta State is getting jittery and in their usual frenzy sowing wild imaginations in their brains?
The DELTA FRESH VISION knows for sure that the PDP in Delta State, known for strength and Resilience is very much intact and the Delta State Chairman of PDP, Chief Solomon Arenyeka has said this much in reassuring the PDP family in the State.
It is surprising that the Delta APC, its agents, and a band of professional blackmailers are unable to correctly read the political algorithms in the State, and even when they do, they mischievously misinterpret it just to suit their whims and caprices.
DELTA FRESH VISION wishes to appeal to the APC and the serial blackmailers who seek to make a living by heating up the polity to desist from any act capable of embroiling the State in intrigues. Delta State is the only State we have and all hands should be on deck to move the State forward. We should not play politics with the collective destinies of Delta State citizens. A stitch in time saves nine.
