The Senior Special Adviser on Security to the Governor of Delta State, Chief Cassidy Iloba, said crime in the State has dropped because of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s commitment to ensuring that the state is safe for all to live in.
Chief Iloba who stated this while speaking to journalists recently, said from the onset, Governor Okowa made his position on the security of the state known when he said. “I am in office to govern my people and not to watch them killed or their property destroyed by any group or person under whatever guise”,
He added that with the Governor support, security agents in the state are on red alert and all herdsman route and the various black sports are known to them. Also, there are mobile policemen strategically located at the black spots which have made it very difficult for the criminal to operate successfully in the state.
He said that Delta State was relatively safe and peaceful when compared to what was obtainable in other states of the country, adding that it was a result of Governor Okowa’s commitment to reducing the crime rate in the State.
The S.S.A remarked further that the security agents knew the resident herdsmen in charge of the routes, hence no herdsmen with bad intention can come into the State.
Chief Iloba appealed to Deltans and non Deltans in the state to be security alert and report any strange elements residing in their area to the appropriate security agents.
“Now that we await the arrival of our fellow black race into our dear cherished and noble oil-rich state, the onus lies in us to conduct ourselves very well before our brothers and sisters from all over African countries. Their presence in the state will serve as a litmus test for us if we can continue to hold more world competitions.
The moment we are rated high in terms of hospitality, love and good conduct, subsequently, our state would be the Mecca of sports to the entire world.
We call on Deltans including all sports lovers from across Nigeria to support the Delta State government in hosting our brothers and sisters from the 54 African countries to a successful and hitch free Asaba 2018 Championship Competition” the SSA stated.
