The new Asaba secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was today unveiled by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.
The imposing and resplendent secretariat is located on the Anwai-Illah Road, some 800 metres to the Government House Asaba.

Shortly after the unveiling of the secretariat, the APC Delta state Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, answering reporters’ questions, said the choice of the location of the new party secretariat is strategic for physical and spiritual reasons.
He said the physical reason is strategy and conscious effort to make the secretariat visible to the public, while the spiritual reason is to make it very close to the Government House, Asaba. Erue explained that since the former Okowa campaign office was located a stone’s throw from the new APC secretariat, and from where he moved into Government House, the APC also consciously and strategically decided to locate its secretariat close to Government House from where the party’s governorship candidate will move into it after the 2019 governorship election.
Erue declared: “I am leading an opposition party to victory, and we are going to win by a landslide. There is no opposition in APC, but only tendencies which is normal in politics, and after the elections, everyone will fall in line because we all have a common goal.”
On the claims of 5,000 APC members decamping to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Erue described it as a lie, pointing out that the person from the Kwakwansiya group does not command that kind of crowd. “I am laughing at Okowa, 5,000 persons did not decamp,” the APC state chairman said.
Earlier, Dr. Kachikwu speaking to the large crowd of APC aspirants for the Delta State House of Assembly who came for screening, admonished them to ensure unity in the party. “The key subject is unity. Not everyone here will compete and get an office. Do your best to win the position that you want. And when you don’t win, you work to keep the unity of the party and for its success. We must serve with integrity. I don’t see Isoko, Ukwuani, I don’t see Urhobo, I see Deltans,” Kachikwu said, as he urged party faithful not to see ethnicity in the politics that they play.
Prophet Erue in his address to the aspirants to understand that nothing good ever comes easy. “No road to the throne is easy,” he said, even as he commended and apologized to the aspirants for their long wait. He explained that the secretariat was still waiting for the national Secretariat to send the materials and the list of the aspirants to be screened.
He assured however, that every aspirant that meets the minimum standard will be screened. “I will do my best to ensure that all our aspirants are screened. But after your screening, go back to your locality and work. Power is not gotten easily,” Erue said, even as he acknowledged that everyone that has picked form is capable of given good representation.
