List of terrorist financing suspects: FG unveils new 15 financiers in fresh security crackdown

The Federal Government has published a new list of 15 individuals and companies suspected of financing terrorism across Nigeria, marking one of the most assertive steps yet in the country’s 2024 counter-terrorism campaign.

Officials say the names emerged from a sweeping multi-agency security review that tracked financial flows, cross-border transactions and logistics supply channels linked to extremist groups. The review flagged nine individuals and six business entities believed to have provided money, material support or other forms of assistance to terror networks operating within and outside the country.

Individuals Listed

Those identified include:

  • Tukur Mamu
  • Yusuf Ghazali
  • Muhammad Sani
  • Abubakar Muhammad
  • Sallamudeen Hassan
  • Adamu Ishak
  • Hassana-Oyiza Isah
  • Abdulkareem Musa
  • Umar Abdullahi

Companies Implicated

The government also named several firms — many of them Bureau De Change operators and general trading companies — suspected of facilitating or routing transactions tied to terror financing. They include:

  • West & East Africa General Trading Company Limited
  • Settings Bureau De Change Ltd
  • Side General Enterprises
  • Desert Exchange Ventures Ltd
  • Eagle Square General Trading Company Limited
  • Alfa Exchange BDC

Security officials involved in the investigation described the move as the result of months of intelligence surveillance, during which agencies analysed suspicious cash movements, monitored communication patterns and collaborated with international partners.

According to one senior officer, the objective is to “cut off the oxygen supply” that sustains extremist networks.

Government sources say the action forms part of a broader national effort to tighten financial-sector oversight, regulate high-risk money-changing operations and reinforce ongoing military operations in terrorism-affected regions.

Authorities also indicated that this is only the first phase of the crackdown, with additional names under review and expected to be added to the sanctions list in the coming months.

Beyond publication of the list, relevant agencies have been directed to impose restrictions, freeze accounts where warranted and monitor any further activity linked to the flagged individuals and companies.
