The yearly Mothers Arise programme, begun by wife of former governor of Delta State, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan held Friday at the Government House Chapel, Asaba with a call on Deltans to live in peace and dedicate their lives to God.
The event with the theme “Remember me oh Lord,” the First Lady and wife of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori who convened the programme said she was elated at the success of this year’s programme given the massive attendance of mothers, that included wives of traditional Rulers from across the state with a promise to do better at the next schedule of the event.
Mrs Obirevwori paid glowing tribute to her predecessor, Dame aEdith Okowa, who she called her mentor and Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, who she described as her grandmother in the office of first lady.
She specifically thanked Deaconess Uduaghan for initiating the Mothers Arise progamme during her tenure as Delta’s First lady with Friday’s event being the 17th edition, promising to take the event to a notch higher by the next edition on February 2nd, 2025.
She relentlessly gave God thanks for the Supreme Court victory of her husband, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, saying what would she have said if the apex court story had been different. “But God did not allow people to ask me, where is my God,” she said and went into long stretch of praises to God Almighty, spicing her praises with relevant scripture quotes.
After a long sessions of praise and worship to God Almighty, during which prayers were said for peace, progress and prosperity of all Deltans, Delta State and Nigeria, the former first ladies, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan and Dame Edith Okowa at separate times made prophetic prayers for the state and her peoples as well as the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration in the state.
Deaconess Roli Uduaghan shortly after the event spoke to banneronlinenews.com during which she was told to live a message for the people of Delta State. She said: “My message for Deltans is that of peace. If Deltans will continue to know God, God will give us peace. Let us learn to live in righteousness in Delta State; because righteousness is an amour. And God will give us righteousness,” she said.
Notable leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dame Nkem Okwuofu who also spoke to banneronlinenews at the event also left a message for Deltans. She said: “My message to Deltans is foremost for them to know God and hold on to Him.”
Pointing out that it is important to pray for God’s visitation and to accept Him as their personal saviour, Dame Okwuofu said: “17 years ago we started this programme that wasn’t the beginning of Delta State, however, God brought into people’s mind and Mrs Roli Uduaghan was used by God to start this. And today, we have seen the dividends of what we are reaping from there – the spiritual dividends which is different from worldly dividend. So many of us have become born again now because of all this.”
Dame Okwuofu continued: “Talking about women praying, God hears women’s prayers in a very different way. So, I beg of Deltans to embrace God. Every year on the 2nd of February, we do this; we come and dedicate every corner of the state all over to God again. And pray for our children, our husbands, our brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts and God has a way of answering women’s prayers. And you saw the prayer sessions today, you attest to the fact with all the victories; I mean who can face 38 cases and come out scot free? But Governor Sheriff Oborevwori did because if you follow him to any of the courts, you’ll find out that as soon as they pronounce victory for him, he is heading to the nearest church and go straight and prostrate at the altar – God has ordained him (Sheriff) for something and He is using him to fulfill it.” Dame Okwuofu said, adding: “Thank God for the life of Dame Edith Okowa. She also came, took over from Mrs Uduaghan and the candle continues to burn. That same candle has turned to light that nobody can quench. And that’s why we pray that anybody who is not of god cannot be the Governor of this state.
“And so if anybody wants to be Governor of Delta state, he should come and embrace God because He answers prayers<” Dame Okwuofu declared.
The Mothers Arise programme had a retinue of men and women of God in attendance who spiced the event with valuable spiritual insights. Such insight was given by Pastor (Mrs) Vera Oroboh, who delivered the sermon on the theme: “Remember me oh Lord.
Pastor Oroboh said “Remember me oh Lord” is an authentic prayer because there’s no one that does not need the help of God, declaring that man should not put his trust in man.
She urged the people to live by the wisdom of God, urged that the people should not allow promotion, honour take them away from God. “Don’t allow the deception of success to make you not to remember God.
She also counseled women to be home makers and keeper and understand the power of submitting to their husbands in marriage and not to be carried away by their own successes in life. “Any married woman that does not honour her husband dishonours her God and His spiritual organogram by which He made man the head of the woman and family.”
Pastor Oroboh said among those that God remembers are those who walk in honour with God, and that God remembers humble people, as pride will make a man never to be remembered by God.
She then called on Deltans to support indigenous ministries with their finances because indigenous gospel ministers also carry the anointing of God and work in the localities, nut that most times their efforts are limited by lack of finance.
