On Tuesday, September 17 at the ongoing 8th National Youth Games (NYG) Asaba 2024, Team Kaduna put up a brilliant performance to claim two gold and one silver medals.
The feat was recorded in Beach Volleyball Boys (Silver), Beach Volleyball Girls (Gold) and Cricket boys (gold).
Meanwhile, hosts Team Delta who are currently topping the medals table with a total of 64 medals as at the time of filing this report, recorded a resounding victory in Golf, rounding up with medal ceremony presentation of:
2 Gold (Olomurhire James-Laura) and 1 Bronze (Chende Miracle O), behind FCT, with 2 Gold and 2 Bronze medals.
Borno claimed 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze, Kano 1 Gold, Adamawa 1 Gold, Akwa Ibom 1 Gold,
Bayelsa 2 Silver and 2 Bronze,
Lagos 2 Silver and 1 Bronze,
Ogun 1 Silver and 1 Bronze and
Nasarawa 1 Silver.
Also on the podium for golf, was Niger with 1 Silver, while Oyo, Imo, Plateau, Benue, Cross Rivers, Edo, Kaduna, Kwara, and Ekiti failed to make impression in the golf event.
In cycling, Divine Ogbe of Team Edo maintained an impressive run.
Ogbe on Tuesday, clinched another gold medal for Team Edo in the to increase the heartbeat state’s medal haul after finishing tops in the female point road race.
The point race gold is the third one the golden wheels rider, Divine Ogbe has won for Edo State in the Asaba 2024 Games.
Divine Ogbe with her achievements in the 2024 Youth Games, has proven to be a force to reckon with and not just a rising star in the Nigeria’s Cycling environment
Similarly, Miracle Udoh also won gold medal for Edo in the 40kg Judo Boys to add value to Team Edo performances.
In Chess, Eguavoen Henry Oghogho won a silver medal for Edo; Classical on board 3, while 9 yr old Zita Agusionu and Ayeni Fareedah won Silver and Bronze medals on board 3a and 2 respectively in the female categories.
