“Anybody who is a Delta Northerner that is against the second term bid of Governor I,feanyi Okowa is a rebel, a witch, and the Bible says ‘suffer not the witch to live;’ you are not supposed to live.”
Those were the campaign expressions today, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 of the Director General of the Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon.
Like others, he spoke at different times at the campaign rallies of the PDP where the candidates of the party were presented to the party faithful at Issele-Uku in Aniocha North, Akwukwu-Igbo, in Oshimili-North and at Asaba, in Oshimili-South.
Funkekeme Solomon continued: “In Delta North, we ask you to defend your entitlement to rule for second term. You have to defend your own turn to rule for second term. I remind the people of Delta North that we are not here to actually ask for votes, but to tell you to keep what you have. The governorship is yours till 20123. Vote and defend your vote, so that at the end of the day glory and honour will be unto God alone.”
At the Oshimili South Arcade in Asaba, apparently impressed with the massive turn out of party faithful and supporters, he urged the people to translate the overwhelming crowd into votes on the election day for Okowa and the other PDP candidates. “Translate this crowd to votes, both on February 16th, 2019 and in March. Note that it is your turn to produce the governor for a second term. Let nobody deceive you,” he proclaimed.
Prince Ned Nwoko, who spoke in his capacity as the Deputy Chairman, PDP campaign council said: “Ordinarily, the governor should not be campaigning in Delta North simply because it is Anioma project. We have work on hand; every Anioma son and daughter to rise to the challenge of returning Okowa for second term. For me as a person, it is a foregone conclusion because the governor has done enough to warrant him to get a second term.
“I have never seen a governor like Okowa. I am personally happy with his performance. Delta Central have had their turn, Delta South have had theirs, and it will be a big shame to Delta North if Okowa is not returned to complete Delta North’s second term. Let’s go out there to our homes and speak to our people to vote massively for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s re-election.”
And at the Oshimili-South Arcade, Rt. Hon Nwoko told the congregation: “Let me say this to you as an Anioma son; the governorship is ours election. It is our turn to have two terms. What Governor Okowa represents is the Anioma. Delta Central and Delta South have agreed that it is the turn of Anioma. The governorship election is our turn; we are to go to everywhere to tell our people why Okowa must be voted for.”
Governor Okowa who expressed happiness at the impressive turn of people at the rallies pleaded in particular with the people of Aniocha North to unite, cooperate and work with one mind. He urged the people to ignore those who have become master election runners.
Urging the people to vote massively for him and all the PDP candidates, Okowa said: “We need to establish that there is equity in Delta State. Tell them that knowledge is important,” pointing out that the truth is that the governor of Delta State cannot be by trial and error. “Ask Ogboru: Does he really have the capacity to be the governor of Delta State?”
