The former member of the House of Representatives, Prince Ned Nwoko has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for doing well; pointing out that he has shown exemplary leadership.
Prince Nwoko who spoke to journalists to express his gratitude to them for their partnership with his campaign while seeking the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Delta North Senatorial District in the 1019 general elections, but lost to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi during the primaries, said: “Okowa is doing well as a governor. He has shown exemplary leadership. Somebody like me is in PDP because of people like him because he is focused. And I remain in PDP.”
Asked whether he was satisfied with the conduct of the primaries in which he lost to his opponent, Nwoko retorted: “I wasn’t satisfied. There were some senior party people who one can describe as dishonest people. They lied to the delegates that the Governor has sided with some aspirants. And it was a lie. The governor never said so. They deceived the delegates.”
Nwoko continued: “The Deputy Speaker Friday Osanebi was seen and heard during the primary election intimidating delegates, telling them to vote for my opponent. So, with this, the primary cannot be said to be free and fair.”
To the journalists, Prince Nwoko declared: “I say thank you for the partnership in the last few months in the mission to rescue Anioma. Anioma is an area that is very dear to my heart. I grew up believing that I could do something to change Anioma.”
Nwoko, who journalists described as the new face of Anioma for his integrity, openness, passion, drive and competence was asked what was driving him for the senatorial district, he said: “I believe I could do something by getting oil companies to become responsible to host communities. It is not a difficult thing to do, by getting them to do those things that they should do. But they don’t do them because they compromise our leaders.
“As a lawyer in the UK, where their headquarters are and I know that they could be sued to get them to do what they should do,” Nwoko said.
The Idumuje-Ugboko Prince and proprietor of Stars University who was the architect of the Paris Club refunds to the state and local government continued on the issues that drive his passion for Anioma. He said: “The issue of flooding is another thing. I felt that there is a very simple to that problem. And that solution is to dredge River Niger and get the big ships to come in. It is to help get the waterways cleared and get huge commercial ventures to thrive around the River Niger.”
With the conclusion of the senatorial pursuit now momentarily over, Prince Ned Nwoko declared: “The next thing for me is to rest.”
