Oborevwori wields the big stick, suspends Rector, Bursar of Delta Poly, Ogwashi-Uku over alleged misconduct

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has wielded the big stick, ordering the immediate suspension of the Rector and Bursar of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, for six months over allegations of administrative misconduct and financial irregularities.

The Governor, who made the decision in his capacity as Visitor to the institution, also ratified the earlier suspension of the Registrar by the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, signaling a sweeping shake-up at the school.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, the suspension is intended to pave the way for a thorough and unbiased investigation into the allegations against the principal officers.

“The measure is to allow for a transparent and independent inquiry into issues bordering on administrative lapses and financial breaches as reported by the Governing Council,” the statement read in part.

In the interim, the Governor directed that the Deputy Rector take charge as Acting Rector, while the most senior accountant in the Bursary Department assumes the role of Acting Bursar for the duration of the suspension.

The development, coming amid the administration’s ongoing drive for transparency and institutional discipline, underscores Oborevwori’s resolve to enforce accountability and restore integrity across state-owned institutions.

Observers say the Governor’s move sends a clear message that financial misconduct and administrative recklessness will not be tolerated under his watch.
