Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has secured double honours as Governor of the Year 2025, earning separate recognitions from New Telegraph Newspapers and Leadership Newspapers for what they described as impactful, people-centred governance.
The two national dailies said the governor merited the prestigious awards for the diligent execution of programmes and policies that have accelerated development and improved lives across Delta State.
Leadership Newspapers announced that Oborevwori will be honoured at its 18th Leadership Conference and Awards holding today, February 12, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The annual event brings together political leaders, policymakers, business executives and development partners to examine pressing national and continental issues, while celebrating individuals and institutions contributing to national growth. The 2026 edition is themed: “Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria.”
Similarly, New Telegraph Newspapers will present its Governor of the Year 2025 Award to Oborevwori as Overall Governor of the Year at its 2025 Awards Ceremony scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Both organisations cited the administration’s inclusive governance style, strategic infrastructure drive and socio-economic policies targeted at improving the wellbeing of Deltans as key factors behind the awards.
The twin recognitions further elevate Oborevwori’s national profile and reinforce growing acknowledgment of his administration’s development strides in Delta State.
