Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda gets boost as Delta taps Brazil’s ranching, energy expertise

The Delta State Government says its recent investment mission to Brazil has opened new frontiers in agriculture, renewable energy, and industrial development, describing the trip as a major step toward an agro-industrial revolution.

Briefing journalists in Asaba, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the mission was designed both to market Delta’s investment potential and to study Brazil’s globally renowned agricultural model, particularly in ranching.

He explained that introducing large-scale ranching would not only boost food production but also generate jobs and improve security.

“By establishing ranches, we are deliberately denying criminal elements the use of our forests as hideouts, thereby strengthening public safety,” Aniagwu said.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the state team held talks with top renewable energy firms, building on previous engagements with the Rural Electrification Agency. He stressed that stable power supply is key to unlocking industrial growth in Delta.

Aniagwu linked the initiatives to the state’s pressing demographic needs, noting that thousands of graduates enter the labour market every year.

“Our goal is to build a private-sector-driven economy where graduates can find meaningful work, ensuring social and fiscal stability for Delta,” he said.

He reaffirmed that the projects are central to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which prioritizes sustainable development and improved living standards for residents.
