Odugala leads Deltans in prayer, praise to Almighty God

The *Delta State More Prayer and Praise Fellowship* held its quarterly gathering on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Delta Hall, Grand Hotel, Asaba.

The interdenominational programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. with an uplifting session of praise and worship led by Pastor Benedict Ugochi.

The fellowship drew participants from across denominational lines—Orthodox, Mission, Pentecostal, Anglican, Seminarians, and Christians from every walk of life—united in worship and intercession for the state and the nation.

In his welcome address, Convener, Deacon Okezi Odugala unveiled the theme of the programme, “Delta State—In God We Trust!” He described it as a divine revelation, emphasizing that God has been faithful to Deltans through the administration of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and would do even more if the people continue in prayer and thanksgiving.

Delivering a charge, Pastor Solomon Nathaneal of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel Headquarters, Asaba) urged Deltans to cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude, avoid complaints, and speak positively about their leaders, citing Proverbs 18:21 on the power of confession.

Revd. Dr. Amos Obi, Anglican Pastor, Missionary, and STEM Innovator, further underscored the importance of persistent prayer and praise. He encouraged the faithful to continually uphold Governor Oborevwori in prayers, describing him as the father of the state who needs divine strength to fulfill God’s will for Deltans. Intercessory prayers were then led by Amb. Dr. Eris Ibi Jewo of the Baptist Church and Civil Society Leader, Pastor Eric Ockiya of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Evangelist Ebere, Deaconess Mary Oduah, and other prayer partners, as the congregation lifted their voices for peace, security, unity, and prosperity for Nigeria and Delta State.

They also prayed for divine wisdom, health, protection, and favour for Governor Oborevwori and the First Family, for harmony among the Urhobo, Ijaw, Itsekiri, and other ethnic groups in Warri Metropolis, for peace and rapid development in Asaba and other Delta communities, and for the resolution and healing of Okuama Community alongside the release of its detained leaders. Special prayers were also offered for Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, recognized as a notable partner of the fellowship.

The programme concluded at 11:30 a.m. with breakfast and the distribution of stickers inscribed with the fellowship’s theme, “Delta State—In God We Trust.”

Deacon Odugala announced plans to make the stickers widely available to all Deltans and residents while calling for more partners and volunteers.

He further revealed that the quarterly fellowship will be taken to all local government headquarters and senatorial districts across the state, with Warri set to host the next edition in December 2025, by God’s grace.
