The Governor of Delta State, and Vice Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has apologised to the people of Burutu Local Government Area for the delay in completing the Ayakoromo Bridge, pointing out that the delay was from the contractor handling the project, but who has now been replaced.
The Governor stated this Tuesday, December 27, 2022, when the PDP Campaign Council visited Burutu Local Government in continuation of its local government area campaigns.
He said that the contract has since been re-awarded to another construction company, SETRACO, and that the company will move to site in the first week of January 2023 to continue with the work..
The Governor, however, pointed out that besides the yet-to-be-completed bridge the State Government has touched the area with many developmental projects, and has benefited from the educational, health, and youth empowerment policies in the area.
Okowa said: “I know you have been agitating and calling for the completion of the Ayakoromo Bridge. I have to apologise on behalf of the Government. The delay was from the contractor. For that, we have re-awarded the contract to SETRACO Construction Company. This is to ensure the completion and commissioning of the bridge.”
“The company will move to site next week to resume work on the bridge. It will be completed in no time.
“However, you can tell, that Burutu has not been neglected in any way, as it has benefitted from other policies of the State Government. We have improved on the educational facilities in this area, so also is the health, youth empowerment, and many other areas.
“I, therefore urge you to vote for our party, the PDP. Vote for all our candidates, and the party will never disappoint you,” he said.
Also speaking the Party Chairman tasked the people on the need to ensure they vote to vote out hunger and suffering in the Country.
Others who spoke were the Governorship Candidate of the party, and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Director of the State Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Local Government Party Chairman, the Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, Chief Braduce Angozi, and Chief P.Y Biakpara.
