As part of efforts towards fulfilling Enhanced Peace and Security in Delta, a component of the MORE Agenda of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration, the Executive Secretary of Delta State Security Trust Fund, Hon. Samuel Osasa Esq Wednesday, January 15, 2025 unveiled two Trust Funds Consultants to members of the Press with a call on them to display integrity, prudence and accountability.
Hon. Osasa, a one time member of the House of Representatives said unveiling consultants to the public was towards achieving greater security in line with the MORE Agenda of this administration.
He warned the consultants to show integrity as they go about the Trust Fund business, pointing out that they risk being shown the exit door should they be found wanting.
Osasa said: “What you are being called upon to do is not just to raise funds for the people but to use the money for the purpose for which it is meant. The purpose is to use the money to provide equipment, materials, training and retraining for our security agencies to enhance their job.”
He continued: “Note that members of the public will do more when they are convinced that you have integrity, that you can be trusted and that you can manage their money.
“So, why Security Trust Fund?It is to help boost that which we have been doing. I call on our consultants to prove that you have integrity and that you can be trusted with funds. Because you are holding the funds in trust for the people. And once we discover that you lack integrity, you can read our agreement clearly — once we discover that you lack integrity, you won’t stay a day longer. So, you are admonished to be prudent, have integrity; people’s money must be properly taken care of and accounted for,” the Executive Secretary said.
Earlier, he gave a brief history of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, saying that it was established in 2013by the Law of the Delta State House of Assembly but that it could not take-off till 2016 when the Law was amended.
Pointing out that the Delta State Security Trust Fund has been assisting security agencies in the state over the years to the extent of “our limited funds”. Osasa said however that on assumption of office by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who he described as the capacity Governor of Delta State directed that the Trust Fund should intensify effort to raise money to help all security operatives in the state so as to reduce all sorts of criminal activities in line with the MORE Agenda.
“Therefore, this press briefing ceremony today is in compliance to His Excellency’s directive to the Board to vigorously raise funds to help security operatives in the state towards tackling insecurity in Delta. To this end, we are here to unveil and showcase the consultants who will do more of this job to the public so as to create awareness of their existence of being the vehicle to achieve greater security in Delta State and the general public, and to support the Government in crime fighting.
According to Hon. Osasa the unveiling event is to inform members of the public that Consultants have been engaged with the aim of soliciting for funds to assist all security operatives as the issue of security of lives and properties should not be left for the state government alone.
“In the light of this, I have honour and privilege to introduce the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HideaPlus Consultants (Mr. Tony Pemu) with his team and Associates to the Press and all gentlemen present. His company has specified areas of coverage within the state.
“Secondly, I have the honour and privilege to introduce the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of North-South Consultants (Charles Omordia), his team and Associates to the Press and all gentlemen present His company also has its own area of coverage within the state, Hon. Osasa said.
Speaking, Mr. Tony Pemu, managing director of HideaPlus Limited thanked Delta State Security Trust Fund and the Executive Secretary for the confidence reposed in the Consultants, pointing out that they will not take it for granted. “We also assure you that we will not disappoint you. We will do our best to surpass your expectation. And for my colleagues, let us see ourselves as partners in progress in this all important assignment,” Mr. Pemu said.
He called for the assistance of members of the press to help to create public awareness so as to get the public get positive perspective of the role that the Consultants are to play, knowing that security is everybody’s business.
Pemu said: “The negative parto of security affects us all, so we all have to play our roles, especially the private sector. We appeal to the media to give it all the coverage to let people know that this is an assignment that has given to some of us to ensure the needed support to combat insecurity, crime and criminality in Delta State.”
Also speaking, Mr. Charles Omordia, managing director and Chief Executive Officer of North-South Security Limited thanked the Executive Secretary and his agency for the privilege to showcase what his company can do to help Delta State the agency to raise funds.
While nothing that security challenges are across the country, that even as it occurs in Delta State, it’s not because the security agencies are not doing their best but it’s also has the challenge of funding.
Omordia said: “A lot of businesses are coming up, and we also know that the businesses all need a better environment to operate. This they can get when the security in the state is good. So, getting involved to assist the state to raise funds through the Delta State Security Trust Fund in bringing some technology driven solutions will help us to reach not just the Nigerian residents doing business in this state, we also want to see how much we can reach out to Deltans in Diaspora and those in the country. So that we can all close our eyes and sleep while the security agencies are being supported.
“We are going to work with Government so that the citizens, government and we can all reap the benefits of security,” Omordia said.
The work he said would involve holding workshops, sensitisation and partnership with NGOs and organisations. “Doing these things will help the state to have a better security environment where we can do businesses and flourish,” Omordia said.
