PERSPECTIVE – Ndokwa Nation ‘ll never support Okowa

By Kay Emeke Kester Enuenwosu

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, ex-Governor of Delta State was supposed to be the hope of Ndokwa Nation having come to political recognition through Ndokwa Nation people and leaders, but he took the mantle, abandoned, and treated Ndokwa like a conquered Nation.

He deprived Ndokwa Nation of everything that is due to her not to talk of extending hands of generosity towards her.

As a Senator between 2011-2015, he never said anything about Ndokwa in the Senate, notably, the stepping down of the Okpai Independent Power Plant to remove the entire Delta North from darkness and epileptic power supply.
He never agitated for the construction of the Agbor-Obiaruku-Abraka federal road and others that connect the entire Delta North.

As a governor between 2015-2023 he did absolutely nothing worthy for Ndokwa Nation even when he knew that by principle of equity and fairness, Ndokws was supposed to produce the first Governor of Delta State from Anioma extraction.
He deprived Ndokwa of producing the governor, he became the governor and crippled Ndokwa Nation politically and in fact now decides who becomes who in Ndokwa Nation politics.

He converted schools to the University of Delta State and never sited one for Ndokwa Nation that does not have any functional higher institutions for State or Federal.

His full eight-year tenure could not complete the Kwale-Beneku Bridge and many substandard roads his government approved for Ndokwa.

Ndokwa Nation became the worst hit of herdsmen menace and the Okowa government never did anything about it, our people have been chased out of their farms and infact, the criminals now own our bushes and collects tuitions from those who wants to work or be safe in our own bushes.

On political appointments and leadership, the influence and actions of Okowa have led to the recycling of leaders who care more about their selfish interest than the interest of the people in Ndokwa Nation simply because they are tools readily available to submit the rightful privileges of Ndokwa people to him. Today, Ndokwa political leaders under one man’s instructions are ready to move from one party to the other without thinking about the interest of the people they represent.

In Delta North (Anioma), Ndokwa is the largest in landmass, Ndokwa is the largest in population, Ndokwa is the largest in terms of natural resources.
How then did we arrive at this level that one Ika man who has done nothing notable for us will be the one controlling our supposed elected leaders who we voted to represent us?

Sen Ned Nwoko is just two years as Senator and already agitating for so many things for Ndokwa Nation, ensured lots of projects, both completed and ongoing for Ndokwa and standing for Ndokwa to produce the 1st Governor of Anioma State when created.
