The recent article titled “APC is not a Winners Redemption Camp”, authored by a faceless social media poster parading as Progress D Gateway, is nothing more than a poorly crafted piece of misinformation aimed at discrediting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the progress he has made in Delta State since assuming office. While it is not unusual for desperate opponents to resort to falsehoods, it is imperative to address the baseless claims made in the article to ensure that Deltans are not misled by unfounded propaganda.
1. Governor Oborevwori’s Leadership and Governance
The claim that Governor Oborevwori has failed in governance is a deliberate distortion of facts. In just 19 months, the Governor has demonstrated proactive leadership and a clear commitment to improving the lives of Deltans through his MORE Agenda; Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security. Under his leadership, Delta State has witnessed:
Strategic infrastructural developments, including ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects. Recent articles from the Delta State Ministry of Information have severely itemised these achievements.
Enhanced social welfare initiatives aimed at cushioning the economic hardships caused by the recent worldwide economic meltdown.
Active engagement with youth and women through empowerment programs, positioning Delta as a model of inclusive governance has also been recently discussed on social media.
These tangible achievements underscore a leader who is focused on delivering on his promises, not one seeking refuge in political maneuverings.
2. Private Jet and APC Defection Allegations
The suggestion that Governor Oborevwori is secretly negotiating with APC Governors is not only baseless but laughable. The Governor remains a staunch and loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His interactions with leaders across party lines are rooted in fostering intergovernmental collaboration for the benefit of Deltans; not in seeking “soft landings.” Unlike the Delta APC, which thrives on divisive rhetoric, the PDP under Governor Oborevwori promotes unity and constructive dialogue.
3. On Senator Ned Nwoko’s Comment
It is worth noting that Senator Prince Ned Nwoko’s remarks were taken out of context to suit the narrative of detractors. The Senator, a known PDP stalwart, has consistently supported the administration’s efforts to judiciously utilize federal allocations. Governor Oborevwori’s transparency in fiscal management has ensured that Delta remains on a sustainable developmental path despite the economic challenges.
4. Misplaced Criticism of PDP and Fearmongering
The claim that the PDP is destined for “unavoidable death” in the next general elections reflects nothing more than wishful thinking by APC propagandists. PDP remains the party of choice in Delta State, with an unrivaled track record of delivering good governance. Governor Oborevwori’s focus is not on partisan bickering but on ensuring that Deltans enjoy the dividends of democracy.
5. Insulting Religious Sentiments
Dragging religion into politics is both irresponsible and unbecoming of any credible political commentary. The Governor’s faith and worship are private matters and should not be subjected to public ridicule. Such statements only expose the desperation and lack of decorum among those who authored this falsehood.
6. The Delta APC’s Track Record of Failure and Unaccountability
It is ironic that the Delta State APC, a party widely criticized for gross unaccountability of the campaign funds meant for the APC Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, is now attempting to position itself as a saviour and opposition. Deltans are fully aware of the calibre of people that made up the State APC structure and their penchant for fraud. Deltans will never consider the APC Delta Chapter as credible opposition good enough to criticize Governor Oborevwori’s administration that has been working tirelessly to bring good tidings to the State.
In a nutshell, these unfounded allegations against Governor Sheriff Oborevwori are nothing but a smear campaign orchestrated by desperate opponents who have lost touch with the realities on the ground. Deltans are not deceived by these baseless narratives and remain steadfast in their support for a leader who has consistently prioritized their welfare.
Let it be known that the PDP in Delta State remains strong, united, and focused on delivering sustainable development. Governor Oborevwori is not just leading; he is setting an example of what true leadership looks like in these challenging times.
