Let me put this political concept in a proper perspective, for a better understanding of my line of thought and the prism of like minds aptly provided by Google.
A “political oligopoly” refers to a situation where a small number of political parties or groups dominate the political landscape, effectively controlling power and influencing policy. This can lead to a limited range of political options for voters and a less competitive political process.
The dominant parties may have less incentive to engage in robust debate or address alternative perspectives, as their positions are already entrenched.
The few dominant parties may cooperate or coordinate to maintain their power, potentially hindering genuine competition and policy innovation.
Historical examples of political oligopolies can be seen in countries with single-party systems or where a few major parties consistently hold power, often with minimal opposition.
In spite of the so-called high profile and low profile defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), including forced defections imposed by some Governors and political leaders, APC remain largely unacceptable to the teaming grassroots nationwide.
The ongoing defections of large numbers of opposition politicians from various parties, especially the PDP to APC, with even APGA under Soludo in Anambra endorsing Tinubu for 2027 is a great blessing in disguise to Nigerians. Finally, all the wicked, people and destructive elements that have held Nigeria hostage are now in one tent, APC, as a force for destruction, hunger and death. Nigerians everywhere, no longer have to worry about where to find their enemies and cause of their problem: they just have to look at the APC membership register. The people of all states know what has happened to them since APC came into power and do not need big names or be paid money to know who to vote against, which is ‘anything but APC’, the party of enemies of the people. Our people are tired of being politically used and exploited by the same selfish, self appointed political oligarchs.
Of a truth, no one can guess correctly the reason behind this drive towards a colossally and woefully failed political party that has ruined the nation’s economy and concurrently lying about the status of it’s rule that has pursued the people to penury, disease and loss of self confidence. Yes, indeed, “we can”. The arrogance of APC’s self messianic calling is failing them fast. Large, over bloated and unnecessary political appointments won’t save them from the looming apocalyptic defeat by the Nigerian people.
Appointments are finished. The President merely converted the jobs of senior civil servants to political jobbers. Look at one of the appointees from Edo State for instance: Is that appointment he got worth all the troubles he put through himself in Edo state?
Tinubu surely knows how to safeguard his under performing administration from untrustworthy politicians and opportunists. These appointments are indeed reserved for people who should never near the seat of power.
President Tinubu is without doubts analogue. His Economic team is same. They just believe in image laundry by the quacks in their information management team. All in a confused state, playing for time to elapse. When you see the list of the achievements being peddled by these sychophants in the presidency, you wonder if their own Nigeria is in the outer space. Certainly, not on the planet earth.
The arrogance of BAT is fast depleting his original power base including the ever visible Aregbesola premier league of former political associates called the Omoluabi, a pan Yoruba platform. This is just one of the prominent signs of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declining political base in the South West. There are many more, in spite of the gathering of questionable characters and expired chaffs in the country.
