Pilgrim Baptist Association celebrates Rev. Martin April 14, Okowa, others to grace occasion

The Pilgrim Baptist Association, Anioma Delta Baptist Conference, comprising over 30 Baptist Churches within Delta and Edo States has concluded arrangements for a befitting Founder’s Day celebration, aimed at celebrating and honouring the Founder of the Pilgrim Baptist Mission worldwide, ate Rev. Dr. S. W. Martin.  
The programme with the theme, “Rev. Dr. S. W. Martin and the Pilgrim Mission: The Journey So Far”, is slated for Saturday 14th April, 2018 at the Pilgrim Baptist Church Cathedral, Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
A statement by the Moderator of the Association, Rev. E.C. Chibuogwu, the Founder’s Day Committee Chairman, Dcn. Paul Mokobia and the Secretary , Dcn. Chijioke Ugbolue, the event which will commence by 10 in the morning will have the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as the Distinguished Guest of Honour with the President, Nigerian Baptist Convention and CAN, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle as the Special Guest.
The Conference President, Rev. P.F. Anyasi will deliver a lecture on the Theme as the Guest Speaker on Saturday 14th April 2018 which is the main day of the event.
“The two-day event, besides having over 40 local Baptist Churches within Delta and Edo States, will also be hosting renowned personalities from the three Baptist Conferences in Delta State as well as some of the officials of the Nigerian Baptist Convention from Ibadan,” the statement stated.
Also expected at the event are the Honourable Members of the Delta State House of Assembly, including the Honourable Member representing Aniocha North State Constituency, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, Honourable Commissioners in the Government of the State which includes, Mr. Emma Chinye and Hon. Patrick Ukah as well as the Executive Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Chuks Oseme and the traditional ruler of Issele-Uku, HRM Agbogidi Obi Nduka (MNSE), Obi of Issele-Uku Kingdom who will grace the occasion as the Royal Father of the Day.
The statement further stated that Rev. Dr. S.W. Martin’s Developmental Award will be presented to the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his Massive Human and Infrastructural Developments in Delta State which they said is in line with the developmental vision and mission of the late Founder of the Pilgrim Baptist Mission, Rev. Dr. S.W. Martin.
Also approved for the prestigious Award included seven highly regarded personalities selected by the Association for their untiring assistance towards the development of the Body of Christ in the Pilgrim Baptist Association since the demise of Late Rev. Dr. S.W. Martin in 1976.
The committee in the statement mentioned their names to include, Dcn. (Pa) J.U.S. Oleleh, Dcn. (Pa) C.O. Ogbechie, Pastor (Pa) E. O. Nwofude, Mother G.E. Ituwe, Hon. (Pa) R.E. Ozabor, Rev. Dr. Dominic Nwadiei and Prince Ibe Ozoma.
“Most of the Nominees are persons between 86 and 102 years old, who started from where our late Father in the Lord stopped in their various stations, with the exception of two of them who are in their early and late 60s.
“We have many of them, but for this year we selected seven, hoping that in our subsequent celebrations some of them will be nominated and honoured with this prestigious award,” stated in the release.
