President Tinubu appoints Doris Uboh REF Executive Director of Rural Electrification Agency

Hon. Doris Olayemi Uboh, MNSE, has been appointed as the substantive Rural Electrification Fund Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

The appointment, effective from January 23, 2025, is for an initial term of four years.

Hon. Uboh, a former member of the House Of Representatives, has been acting as the executive director Rural Electrification Fund ( ED REF) since March 2024 and will now settle into her role following her substantive appointment.

Doris Uboh is a New York-trained Electrical Engineer with years of working experience in the industry.

She was a member of House of Representatives, where she represented Ika Federal Constituency between 2007 and 2011. She sponsored several bills, one of them being a private member bill, the Minimum Wage bill, which was harmonised with an Executive Bill and assented to by then President Goodluck E. Jonathan, GCFR. She was the chairman of Petroleum Product and Marketing Company, as well as, a member of the House Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Public Procurement, Police committee and Marine Transport.

At REA, Hon. (Engr.) Doris Uboh is focused on working with the leadership to achieve the Agency’s mandate of bridging the energy gap by improving access to electricity in the rural communities through renewable energy, which is one of the key visions of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Hon. (Engr.) Doris Uboh is a Professional Engineer, a political leader, a wife, a mother to many children in her community whose main goal is to contribute her quota to the growth of our country.
