Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Industry this morning (Tuesday, August 1, 2017) added yet another feather to its cap as part of effort towards the fulfillment of its aspiration to be a leading energy products and services provider in the country, with the commissioning of an Ultra-Modern Mega Station and Mall located at 295 Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Delta state.
In his welcome address that came shortly before Governor Ifeanyi Okowa commissioned the project, Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. Gabriel Ogbechie revealed that the facility is spread across over 5,000 sq. m of land and comprises:
• 44 nos ultra-modern shops / show rooms
• 8 product dispensing pumps
• state of the art fire-fighting equipment
“This project was undertaken by Rainoil Limited as part of our retail expansion drive,” he said.
Pointing out that Rainoil Limited, which commenced operations in May 1997, and has over the past 20 years built investments that span the entire value chain of the downstream, listed the investments to include:
1) A 50 million litre capacity petroleum storage depot in Oghara, Delta State.
2) A 50 million litre capacity petroleum storage depot in Calabar in Cross River State.
3) A fleet of 5 ships with which petroleum products are imported into Nigeria and West Africa
4) 52 retail petrol stations spread across Nigeria.
5) A fleet of over 90 tank trucks with which petroleum products are distributed across Nigeria.
“We have a staff strength of over 700 employees,” Ogbechie stated, adding that “A key strategy for Rainoil has always been to grow at our own pace, we have grown the company with prudence and discipline.”
Mr. Ogbechie said Rainoil Limited has petrol stations spread across the country, Including Lagos, Kaduna, Makurdi, Onitsha, Enugu, Otukpo, Gboko, Keffi, Abuja, Port-Harcourt and other cities, declared that “It is in Delta State however, that we have our greatest imprint. Delta State remains a focal point in our investment decisions. Of the 52 petrol stations that we have, 18 of them are in Delta State. In Delta State, we have presence in Asaba, Igbodo, Agbor, Warri, Idumuje Ugboko, Sapele, Oghara, Obiaruku and counting. Our main petroleum storage depot is also in Oghara, Delta State.
“Our aspiration is to be a leading energy products and services provider and I believe we are very much on course towards achieving that vision,” he said, pointing out that the expectation is that the Mall and station shall contribute to the employment of youth in Delta State.
Ogbechie commended Governor Okowa for providing the enabling environment for investment to thrive in the state.
Governor Okowa, who was greatly elated by the gigantic project, assured investors of government’s support in the provision of enabling environment for economic development of the country.
While stressing that Delta State is investor-friendly and economically viable to support investors willing to impact on the state’s economy, Okowa said: “I am glad at your zeal to impact on your immediate society, I want to assure you of the support of government to impact on the economy of the state, I want to urge all Deltans with investments in other places to come and invest at home; your investments will help generate employment for the youths and impact on the state economy”.
To Rainoil Limited, the Governor said:” We are proud of what you have done, and we look forward to greater partnership in the future, we will continue to support you as you impact on the economy of the state.”
