Rescheduled Delta L.G polls: Delta Police Command imposes restriction on vehicular movement

Against the backdrop of the rescheduled Delta State Local Government Councils elections in Ughelli North and Ethiope East Local Government Areas (LGAs), billed to take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, the Delta State Police Command has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement in the affected LGAs from 6am -3pm of the Election Day.

A statement signed by DSP Andrew Aniamaka, the Commands Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, stated that he decision was taken in the overall interest of peace and safety before, during and after the elections.
While regretting the inconveniences the restriction order might cause commuters using the affected routes, the Command enjoins them to take alternative routes, while it calls on politicians and their supporters in the areas to conduct themselves peacefully as anyone whose action constitutes security threat will be decisively dealt with according to the law.

The Command assures the electorates in the affected areas that adequate security mechanism has been put in place to guarantee their safety as they go out to exercise their franchise.
