Tinubu condemns Borno terror attacks, directs security chiefs to Maiduguri

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent terror strikes in Maiduguri, Borno State, describing the incidents as profoundly upsetting and vowing that the government will intensify its efforts to eliminate criminal elements across the country.

In a statehouse statement released on Monday, the President mourned those who lost their lives, sympathized with the injured, and expressed solidarity with the people of Borno during what he termed a challenging time.

President Tinubu characterized the attacks as desperate acts by terrorists facing increased pressure from the armed forces. He commended the courage of troops who successfully repelled coordinated assaults on military positions in the state.

“These acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear, as they are under constant pressure from our brave armed forces,” the statement read.

The President disclosed that during a security meeting last weekend with leaders of security and intelligence agencies, he approved additional equipment and operational support to enhance their capabilities. He confirmed that this effort is already in progress.

In response to the recent violence, President Tinubu has directed security chiefs to travel to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation. He has also ordered emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured.

“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them,” the President stated. “Nigeria will not succumb to fear.”

The Monday attacks, which President Tinubu described as desperate acts by “evil-minded terrorist groups,” mark a significant security incident in a region that has long struggled with insurgency.
