Ukah hails quality, work pace as DSCTDA inspects Capital Territory road projects

By Kingsley Chibuzor

The Director-General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), Mr. Patrick Ukah, on Monday undertook an unscheduled inspection of key road and flood-control projects across Asaba and Okpanam, expressing strong satisfaction with the quality and pace of work recorded so far.

Mr. Ukah, who was accompanied by senior Agency officials including the Project Manager and supervising engineer, Engr. Bawo Atsiangbe, visited several project sites in Oshimili South and Oshimili North Local Government Areas. The tour, he said, was to obtain firsthand assessment of progress and verify strict compliance with approved engineering standards.

Speaking during the inspection, the DSCTDA boss noted that the projects—ranging from strategic drains to newly constructed access roads—are central to improving mobility, combating flooding, and enhancing living conditions within the state capital.

One of the major sites visited was the flood-control project at Ogbeilo/Ugbomanta Streets, which channels stormwater through Ogbeogonogo Market to Utuogwu Bay. Now at about 60 percent completion, Ukah described the intervention as “critical to ending the perennial flooding” in the densely populated area.

He also inspected several road projects already fully completed. These include Princess Pat Ajudua Crescent with its 110-metre spur to New General Hospital Road in GRA Phase V; Ambassador Leo Okogwu Road and adjoining streets in Zappa; Martins Nwanze Street; and the overlay of Oweazin Kenaz Crescent in Okpanam.

Other completed projects inspected were Aloy Isowede/Pastor Agbaegbu D. Street in Asaba, as well as Cletus Okolie Achi Way/Marble Hill School Road with a spur to Holy Family Catholic Church Road, off Okpanam Road.

Commending the engineering team led by Engr. Atsiangbe, the Director-General praised the Agency’s commitment to quality delivery and adherence to specifications. He assured residents that every project executed under DSCTDA would offer long-term value and durability.

“From what I have seen so far, I am impressed with both the quality and the progress achieved. These roads will soon be fully open for public use, bringing much-needed ease, connectivity, and comfort to residents and commuters within the capital territory,” Ukah said.

He reaffirmed the Delta State Government’s resolve to sustain infrastructure development in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to people-oriented, high-impact projects that elevate the urban landscape of the state capital.
