Former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has called on citizens to rise to the challenge of reclaiming their state through active participation in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Speaking in Ilesa on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the monthly stakeholders’ meeting of the Omoluabi Progressives, a political movement within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Aregbesola charged party members and residents not to stand aloof while decisions about their future are made.
He insisted that genuine change and people-centred governance can only be secured when citizens arm themselves with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“We are committed to restoring a people-friendly government and to making life more abundant for our people. But it begins with your participation—no one can do it for you,” Aregbesola declared, drawing loud cheers from the gathering.
The former governor stressed that the ADC would not relent in mobilising across communities, towns, and villages to awaken civic responsibility and strengthen grassroots power ahead of future elections.
He said: “The first battle is voter registration. If we lose it, we lose our voice. But if we win it, Osun will rise again under a government that truly belongs to the people.”
