A leader of a team of health workers involved in the ongoing vaccination against yellow fever in Uvwie Local Government Area, Gloria Apah, has appealed for transport assistance for those carrying out the exercise in the area.
Apah who made the appeal in an interaction with our correspondent in, Effurun today, stated that the provision of transportation would enable health workers to reach out to the nooks and crannies in the area and to carry out the exercise in recorded time.
She had however remarked that response from residents of the local government area was very positive
“We have vaccinated over 150 persons, including mothers and children when it is not yet 12 noon,” she stated.
Apah who stressed that the exercise was free, disclosed that it commenced on Saturday, December 5, 2020 and that the target of number of persons to be vaccinated a day was 150.
She advised residents to keep personal hygiene and avoid mosquito bites as parts of measures aimed at preventing the spread of yellow fever.
Meanwhile, the Proprietress of St. Anastasia Height International School, Effurun, Chief Anastasia Agbatutu, has called on parents to present their children and wards for the ongoing yellow fever vaccination exercise.
The Uvwie-born educationist made the call while commenting on the exercise in an interaction with our correspondent at a public function in GRA, Effurun.
She commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for sponsoring the exercise free of charge in Delta State while saying that the yellow fever was as dangerous as the dreaded COVID-19.
