2019: Youths ready to occupy 50% elective offices, says Coalition

The Coalition of Young Candidates of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CYCFGN) said Nigerian youths are now determined and ready to occupy at least 50 per cent of elective offices in the country come 2019.
Spokesperson of CYCFGN who is also the AAC Governorship candidate in Abia State Ambassador Vincent Ubani, said this in Abuja at the closing ceremony of the Not Too Young to Run Conference.
Ubani said that members of the coalition had resolved to form a common front to enable them to achieve their aim.
The governorship candidate said that about 420 candidates from different political parties across the country participated in the conference and had benefited a lot from the mentorship of the organisers.
According to Ubani, Nigerian youths will implement the knowledge and strategies gathered during the conference for the benefit of its members contesting in the 2019 general election.
“The coalition will form a formidable force to confront factors that are working against the emergence of youth candidates in the country which include vote buying by money bags and the high price of political party nomination forms.
“Nigerian youths must stand against corruption at all times and build a country free of religious bigotry, ethnicity and other vices.

“The political atmosphere in Nigeria has marginalised the youths for a long time due to money politics, but we are ready to partner with like minds to garner support for our young candidates for a successful outing in 2019 general election,” Ubani said.
He commended the Not too Young to Run organisers, Yiaga Africa and UKAid for their support during the just concluded conference. (NAN)
