Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reinforced his commitment to human capital development with a fresh donatin to health-focused institutions in Bauchi State, emphasizing that healthcare remains the most critical pillar for national development.
In a statement shared on his official X platform following his visit to the state on Thursday, Obi disclosed that he donated an additional N10 million to Thomas Moore School of Health Sciences and Technology to support scholarship programmes for students.
The former Anambra State governor noted that the donation builds on his previous intervention in the institution, where he had earlier contributed N10 million. According to the school’s management, the earlier support significantly aided the modernization of its laboratory facilities.
Obi’s visit to the institution formed part of a broader itinerary in Bauchi, during which he also met with the state governor, Bala Mohammed, and toured other educational and health institutions, including Madarasatu Intisharul Islam Qismu Tahfizul Qur’an and Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences.
Reiterating his long-held stance on development priorities, Obi stressed that investment in healthcare and education remains fundamental to building a productive society.
“Health is number one critical for development, and we must invest in the human infrastructure needed for that development,” he stated.
He concluded with his signature message of optimism, declaring that “a new Nigeria is possible.”
