The monarck of Egbudu-Aka, Obi Paul Nzemeka Obi-Okolie has accused the Divisional Police officer of Nsukwa, in Delta state of being in alliance with those who kidnapped him and his wife on June 7th, 2017 leading to the burning of his palace, buildings, vehicles and the injuries they both sustained in the hands of assailants that kept him and his wife bedridden.
Speaking to journalists this morning 15th June, 2017 in Asaba, from a private hospital where he and his wife are currently being treated for bodily injuries sustained in the hands of his kidnappers, arsonists with intent to murder him, said he was in his palace compound when he observed some youth numbering about 30 wielding sticks and cudgels and approaching the palace.
Shortly after, they pounced on him and beat him mercilessly. “They dragged me on the ground, beat me mercilessly and took me away and dropped me off in Solomon Ogwuagu Obi-Okolie’s house, where the latter was waiting with Patrick Wilpeker, Monday Oga, Stephen Oshiegbu, among others,” he stated.
Wearing a plastered head to cover some of the injuries inflicted on him allegedly by one Eric Ossai, identified as a voodoo doctor, who he also alleged was the one who shot him at close range with a pistol which miraculously failed to hit his body only to produce water, Obi Paul Nzemeke Obi-Okolie, fighting back tears, said he bled so much in the place where his assailants kidnapped and kept him all night in the cold without wears on him, intending him to die.
He alleged that the DPO of Nsukwa area command that should ensure security of the area was not disposed to helping him out, rather he allowed his assailants to have their way as he kept his eyes away from the evil and the insecurity they had created in the town.
The monarch alleged for instance that after phone calls were made to the Police Headquarter command in Asaba, and contingents of anti-riot police men were dispatch to Egbudu-Aka from Umunede, and environs, that the Nsukwa DPO stopped them, and prevented them from gaining entrance into Egudu-Aka town to rescue him and others, as well as prevent the arson and destruction to properties and peoples’ other belongings. So much so that the assailants had a field day as they dealt mercilessly with him in a seclusion where they kept him after receiving merciless beatings from them resulting in his swollen face and blood loss.
He also alleged that his wife was not spared of the ordeal as she was beaten thoroughly and dragged on the ground by the attacked sent by his kid brother, Solomon Ogwuagu Obi-Okolie, who was given birth to by a woman given to his late father as ransom for the debt owed his father.
His wife was seen in hospital with a well pummeled and swollen face, looking ill.
“Solomon and his siblings have no resemblance as the children of late Obi-Okolie. They are slaves to the family because my late father never paid dowry on their mother. It was not necessary. She was given to our father when her parents who owed our father could not pay their debt obligation. She was given to our father in lieu, Obi Paul Nzemeke Obi-Okolie declared.
He alleged that the accomplices of Solomon Ogwuagu Obi-okolie who sponsored the attacks, kidnap arson and murder included: Patrick Wipeker, Monday Oga, Stephen Oshiegbu, Cyprain Obi-Okolie, Nwabuwannne Ezinwa, Okafor Obayagbon, Ossai Ugu aka Abela, Eric Ossai, a voodoo doctor, whose close range shot at him failed to respond when fired.
Obi Paul Nzemeke Obi-Okolie called on the Delta State Government to disband the vigilante group as currently composed as they are a terrorist group in the community. He also called on the state government to as a matter of urgency help to restore security of lives and property in Egbudu-Aka, so that persons who fled the community to preserve their lives can safely return to continue their normal life.
The monarch who expressed gratitude to the local government authorities for visiting him, and the chairman of the Delta State Traditional Council, the Obi Of Owa, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor as well as the Aniocha Chairman of the traditional Council for their solidarity visits, listed the names of those whose houses and properties were torched to include: Ogbah Peter, Onochie Felix, Oshiegbu Ifeanyi, George Ememokwu, Dennis Onwuyali, Chief Paul Okwueze, Chief Emmanuel Osahor, Madam Blacky Obi-Okolie, widow of the late monarch, and Edward Oshiegbu’s wife who sustained a broken leg, even as Edward himself was banished from the town by the assailants.
