Arrangements have been concluded for the smooth commencement of the 3-Day State Communication Workshop with the Theme: Advancing Delta – Strategies for Public Communication and Effective Media Engagement, scheduled to hold at Hotel Benizia Asaba from 17th to 19th December, 2024.
The capacity building and professional skills development program is a deliberate effort of the Delta State Government through the State Bureau of Communications and Orientation, to enhance the performance of media aides to the governor, selected social media influencers and media partners, in line with the human capital development initiative of governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as encapsulated in the MORE Agenda.
The Director-General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe, disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking as a guest of Orientation Panorama, a live programme on Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba, saying that the 5th edition of Delcom promises to be a special brain storming exercise that would enable participants to deliver more effectively on their assigned responsibilities.

According to him, “There is need for deliberate training and retraining. Times are changing and technology is evolving.

“Participants need to know what it takes to sell the MORE Agenda through effective and result oriented public communication and social media engagements. This is very important.
“If you go to the media space, a lot of things are going on there,.both negative and positive engagements. This workshop would handle these issues occuring daily in the media space, with emphasis on positive engagements.
