The political feud in Anambra State has taken a dramatic turn, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife (Iyom), unleashed a blistering attack on Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, branding him “the dirtiest governor in West Africa” and mocking his personal hygiene.
Ekwunife, in a viral video making the rounds on social media, accused Soludo of presiding over bloodshed, hunger, and untold hardship, charging that the state under his watch has collapsed into fear and insecurity. She cited the killing of two serving members of the Anambra House of Assembly, saying the governor has failed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Visibly furious, the former senator dared Soludo to prove his allegations that her PhD was fake in court rather than “spreading lies at campaign rallies.” She defended her academic credentials from the University of Calabar and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, insisting they are “legitimate, verifiable, and open to public scrutiny.”
On Soludo’s controversial remarks that Anambra will never be governed by a woman married outside the zone, Ekwunife fired back:
“Your own daughter is married outside her community—will you deny her the rights of her husband’s people? Nobody, including you, has the power to determine my destiny.”
Turning personal, Ekwunife ridiculed Soludo’s wife’s wellness campaigns, bluntly advising her to “buy deodorant and mouthwash for her husband.” She further dismissed Soludo’s academic reputation, calling his professorship “an award, not an achievement,” and accused him of hiding his failures behind “agbero-style theatrics.”
According to Ekwunife, Anambra’s once-bustling weekends have become ghostly under Soludo, with insecurity and economic decline driving away visitors and investors.
“I am a product of God’s grace, hard work, and perseverance,” she declared. “Soludo is too small to decide my future. Ndi Anambra will judge us both at the polls.”
The fiery exchange marks a new low in Anambra’s political mudslinging, with observers warning that the 2025 governorship race could be one of the state’s most bitterly fought contests in recent history.
