DSCTDA intensifies cleanup at Koka Roundabout to restore aesthetic, safety

The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) continued its environmental sanitation exercise at the Koka Roundabout on Friday, February 29, 2026,  intensifying efforts to evacuate accumulated sand, debris, and solid waste from the road median and its surroundings.

The exercise, led by the Head of Environment, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, is part of the Agency’s ongoing intervention to enhance cleanliness, improve visibility, and ensure safer navigation for both motorists and pedestrians along this major gateway into the state capital.

Speaking while supervising the operation alongside members of the Environment Unit, Mr. Nwosu stated that the intensified cleanup was necessitated by the significant buildup of sand and refuse along the median, which had begun to compromise the road’s aesthetic appeal and safety standards.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Environment Unit to executing its mandate of maintaining environmental sanitation across strategic locations within the capital territory.

In a separate remark, the Director-General of DSCTDA, Mr. Patrick Ukah, reiterated the Agency’s dedication to preserving Asaba as a clean, orderly, and dignified state capital.

Mr. Ukah commended the Environment Unit for its diligence and consistency, noting that the sustained intervention at Koka Roundabout demonstrates the Agency’s proactive strategy in environmental management and urban renewal.

He called on residents and road users to complement the government’s efforts by avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal and adopting responsible environmental practices.

The cleanup operation is scheduled to continue until the entire Koka Roundabout corridor is fully cleared and restored to its intended state.
