The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 elected Chief Solomon Arenyeka as its new State Chairman, as Governor charged the newly constituted State Working Committee (SWC) to begin immediate preparations for a sweeping victory in the 2027 general elections.
Arenyeka and his party executives emerged by consensus and voice vote at the Delta APC State Congress held at the Cenotaph in Asaba. Elder Moses Iduh was elected Deputy Chairman, while Chief Efe Uko emerged as State Secretary.
Other officials elected by consensus include Chief Paulinus Akpeki as Delta Central Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba as Delta South Chairman, Engr. Daniel Ossai as Delta North Chairman, Elder Emmanuel Egbabor as State Organising Secretary, Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo as State Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Sobotie as State Woman Leader, and Christopher Agali as State Youth Leader.
Chairman of the State Congress Electoral Committee, Engr. Vita Abba, declared the new executive elected following their affirmation by delegates, stating that the process complied with the party’s constitution and guidelines.
Earlier, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, moved a motion for the dissolution of the outgoing State Working Committee to pave the way for new leadership. The motion, seconded by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, was unanimously adopted.

Addressing party faithful, Governor Oborevwori commended the outgoing executive led by Elder Omeni Sobotie for steering the party through what he described as a defining transition period following the April 2025 political realignment in the state.
“I stand before you today filled with a deep sense of responsibility and optimism about the bright prospects of our great party,” the governor said. “What began as a principled decision to align Delta State with the renewed vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has evolved into a powerful and unstoppable political movement.”
He praised party members for their discipline and unity, describing the peaceful conduct of congresses across the 270 wards, 25 local government areas and the state as evidence of APC’s internal democracy.
“There was no imposition. What we witnessed was broad consultation, agreement and inclusiveness. This structure belongs to all of us,” he stated.
Oborevwori tasked the new executive to prioritize regular meetings, deepen grassroots engagement and intensify voter mobilization ahead of 2027.
“Our mission is unequivocal. We must secure victory at every level: the Presidency, Senate, House of Representatives, Governorship and State House of Assembly,” he declared, expressing confidence that Delta APC would deliver overwhelming votes for President Tinubu and all party candidates.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and performance under the MORE Agenda, citing achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, agriculture, security and human capital development.

In his remarks, outgoing State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, described the congress as the outcome of collective sacrifice and unity.
“In politics, what we have is not ‘I’ but ‘we.’ The interest of the people is more important than personal interests,” he said, urging the new leadership to lead with humility. “Ability may take a man to the top, but humility keeps him there.”
In his acceptance speech, Arenyeka thanked party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in him and the new SWC.
“I am fully aware of the weight of this responsibility and do not take it lightly. We consider ourselves privileged to serve and we pledge to justify the confidence imposed on us,” he said.
He assured members that the new executive would uphold hard work, integrity, transparency and teamwork, while sustaining consensus-building and accountability within the party.
Arenyeka also paid tribute to Governor Oborevwori for his leadership and unifying approach, pledging that under his chairmanship, Delta APC would become a model for other states.
“We have heard the marching orders from our leader. By God’s grace, we shall deliver all APC candidates in the 2027 elections,” he declared.
The congress attracted party leaders and stakeholders from across the state, ending in a charged atmosphere of celebration as the Delta APC formally inaugurated its new leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
At the well attended state congress, some notable political figures and chieftains, including some elected persons were not present.
While acknowledging and appreciating party faithful for turning out in large numbers, Governor Oborevwori said jokingly: “Those who did not attend are not from Delta.”
