The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has recorded a significant political gain in Delta State following the defection of Hon. Kenneth Kanma from the Labour Party, in a move seen as strengthening the party’s growing influence in the state.
Kanma formally declared for the ADC in a well-attended ceremony witnessed by top party leaders and stakeholders, including the Delta State Chairman, Engr. Austine C. Okolie, Vice Chairman (North), Lady Chinwe Edijoh, as well as the nine Local Government Area chairmen from Delta North Senatorial District and other party executives across various levels.
The highlight of the event was Kanma’s official induction into the party, where he was administered the oath of allegiance and presented with his ADC membership card, signaling the completion of his defection.
Speaking at the event, Kanma expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the warm reception, pledging total loyalty and commitment to the ideals and growth of the ADC. He also used the occasion to unveil his political ambition, declaring his intention to contest for the Delta North Senatorial seat under the party’s platform.
His defection is widely regarded as a strategic addition to the ADC’s political structure in Delta State, particularly in Delta North, where the party continues to expand its grassroots appeal.
Party leaders present at the event described the development as a major boost, noting that Kanma’s entry, alongside his supporters, reflects a broader shift in the political landscape and reinforces the ADC’s position as an emerging force in the state.
With this latest development, the ADC appears to be consolidating its base and building momentum ahead of future electoral contests in Delta State.
