President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination for the upcoming election, after a nationwide primary that saw him poll a staggering 10,999,162 votes.
The result was announced on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at the International Conference Centre by the APC Presidential Election Committee Chairman, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim. The only other aspirant, Stanley Osifo, received 16,503 votes.
According to the committee, over 11 million accredited party members participated in the vote, which took place on May 23, 2026, across all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, 774 local councils, and 8,809 wards.
Accepting the certificate of return and the party’s flag from APC Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, President Tinubu expressed humility and gratitude. He promised that a second term would focus on consolidating economic reforms, securing progress, and strengthening Nigeria’s foundations.
“With another four years of disciplined focus and national cooperation, we will firmly place Nigeria on an irreversible path of economic expansion, industrialisation, energy security, infrastructure development, food sufficiency, and democratic consolidation,” Tinubu said.
He highlighted key achievements from his first three years, including structural economic reforms, new tax laws, and the establishment of a Nigerian Education Loan Fund that has disbursed over N282 billion to 1.5 million beneficiaries.
