Backs Deacon Chris Iyovwaye’s RESET agenda ahead of 2027, says Delta deserves better

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Delta North Senatorial District has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the reported death of Mr. Unity Adeda, a Level 16 civil servant, at the Delta State Secretariat, warning that a government office must never become a place where intimidation, assault or violence leads to the loss of human life.

In a press statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Udoka Aaron Ebenuwa, the NDC said the reported death has raised serious concerns and called for anyone found culpable to face the law “irrespective of political position or connection.”

“A government office should be a place of service, dignity, safety and protection, not a place where allegations of intimidation, assault or violence can result in the loss of human life,” the statement said.

The NDC asked: “When will enough be enough?”

It said if the state’s MORE Agenda is to mean anything, it should translate to “MORE security, MORE dignity, MORE development and MORE protection of lives — NOT MORE violence, intimidation and death.”

The statement then pivoted to 2027, presenting Deacon Chris Iyovwaye as the man offering Deltans a new direction through what it called the RESET agenda.

According to Ebenuwa, Iyovwaye’s vision is built around human dignity, security, industrialisation, quality healthcare, infrastructure, job creation and inclusive governance.

“His vision is to move Delta beyond politics of continuity and towards a state where government presence is felt in the lives of ordinary people; where our abundant resources and human capital are converted into opportunities; and where Delta is deliberately developed into a strong industrial and economic hub,” the statement said.

The NDC described the RESET DELTA agenda as a plan to restore confidence in government, protect lives, create opportunities and build a better future for all Deltans.

It declared: “2027 is about accountability. 2027 is about a RESET. Delta must reset! Delta deserves better.”
