Journalists have been urged to be conversant with the different specialized fields of reportage for capacity enhancement.

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Delta State Governor, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, gave the charge today, October 25, 2019, in Asaba in a closing remark at a two-day capacity building workshop for Government Press Corps and media partners.

Ifeajika who reiterated the import of training and retraining as a means to keep pace with trends, said that journalists should capitalize on every opportunity to increase their knowledge base.

The Chief Press Secretary while saying that knowledge conferred power on power, called on journalists to strive to be well informed in order to be at home with current issues affecting society.

He implored the workshop participants to internalize the knowledge gained and put them to judicious use in their everyday job.

The CPS highlighted the need for journalists to demonstrate high sense of integrity, explaining that such virtue was closely tied to their dignity as purveyors of information in the society.

Earlier in a lecture titled “News Reporting: Politics Perspective”, the resource person, Mr Chukwudi Okolo-Ugbaja, called on journalists to make the society’s interest uppermost in their reportage, insisting that the guiding rule remaines factuality, fairness, accuracy and balance in political reporting.

Another resource person, Mr Tony Enejudo, lectured on “Handling Video Camera:Techniques, Nuances”, where listed various camera users to include videographer, cameraman, camera operator, director of photography and cinematographer.

The workshop featured questions and answer sessions.
The highlight was the presentation of certificates to participants.
