APC Delta North caucus pass vote of no confidence in Prophet Jones Erue

  • Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, APC national chairman

The Delta North caucus of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Delta state chapter has passed a vote of no confidence in the State Chairman of the party, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, with a call on the party’s national leadership to act decisively to end Erue’s subversive and anti-party manouvres against Delta North.

The group which calls itself The Anioma Patriots in APC, Delta state chapter accused Erue of working against the party’s resolution that the Delta North district should produce the party’s candidate in the 2019 governorship election in Delta State.

A statement signed by Chief Emmanuel Eboha, chairman, Anioma Patriots in APC, Delta State, the group recalled that State leadership caucus meeting convened on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the instance of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, with notable APC chieftains in attendance, resolved to zone the governorship position to Delta North.

Chief Eboha listed those in attendance at thatmeeting to include: Sir Olisaemeka Akamuli, statutory caucus member and member, APC Board of Trustees, Chief Adolo Okotie-Eboh, Chief Great Ogboru, who was represented by Engelist Ossai Abeh, Hon. Victor Ochei, and Engr. Hycinth Enuha , represented by Barrister Dennis Nwanokwai. Other were Dr. Alex Ideh, Chief Frank Kokori, Chief Ayiri Emami, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, as well as other members of the state working committee.

Eboha explained that the State caucus preceded the peace meeting called in Abuja by the National Chairman, Chef John Odigie-Oyegun, in which Prof. Pat Utomi, Chief Great Ogboru and Engr. Hycinth Enuha were physically present. “So the Dr. Kachikwu parley was convened as a follow up and reconciliation meeting to distil the rapport of the Abuja peace accord,” he stated, arguing that it was therefore regrettable that Erue who was present in person at both meetings would deliberately set up machinations o undo the peace accord already cemented and seek to undermine the relations reached by the national and state leadership of the party.

Eboha declared: “It is no longer news that Prophet Jones Erue is working with certain cabal in Dental Central with vested interest in contesting the governorship position in 2019 and thereby scuttle the bright chances of the APC taking over the reins of power in Delta State Government House in 2019.

“Prophet Erue who has always been used by this same cabal in Delta Central has consistently marginalized and undermined the political interests of Delta North district in APC, and has brazenly usurped official positions of Delta Northerners in the party, giving the impression that APC is an Urhobo ethnic political party.”

He alleged that in several instances, Erue had given contracts to party leaders from Delta Central and ignored those from Delta North, all being manouvres to short change and subvert the peace accord and working resolutions of the APC for Delta State reached at the March 4, 2017 meeting.

“On this note, Anioma Patriots in APC, Delta State chapter seizes this medium to pass a vote of no confidence on the State Chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, and to call on the national leadership of the APC to deal decisive on this on this ugly development and reposition the party on its winsome track of abiding on the existing governorshipzoning arrangement in the state, of which Delta North should be allowed to complete its two nterm in the governorship position,” Eboha Stated.
