The people of Agbor community have called on Delta State Government to work on the drainage system on the newly constructed Alihame-Agbor-Nta-Oki Road in order to boast the duality of the road and checkmate the flooding and erosion that the area is suffering from.

This call was made by the President General of Agbor Development Union, Mr Larry Onyechei, during the commissioning of Alihame-Agbor-Nta-Oki Road by the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and the former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, held at Alihame axis of the road.

Mr Larry Onyechi, who was ably represented by his secretary, Dr Onyemechi Ugbo earlier thanked Governor Okowa for the construction of the road, which he said had automatically put to an end the suffering of the people of Alihame and the other communities along the road.

He, however, drew the attention of the state government to an issue surrounding the road which is the problem of flooding and erosion which have become a great threat to buildings and the durability of the road.

Another area that needs an urgent attention in Agbor, as pointed out by the president general is Uromi Junction especially Obi Ikenchukwu Road beside Agbor Technical College which has become a very serious ecological problem due to the massive erosion going on there.

Also speaking, Elder Jacob Nwaedozie said Alihame Community had decided to take a proactive measure by declaring operation clear your gutter in Alihame.

He explained that notice had been served to all landlords/landladies to make sure they evacuate debris in the gutters on a weekly basis while.

Nwaedozie added that any landlord that failed to comply would be sanctioned while revealing that the decision was taken by the community in an Alihame general meeting held at the community hall.

He further stated that the decision was a measure to help the government to serve the people belter since government cannot do it alone.

He however recommended that the expected drainage system should be channeled to Orogogo River through a well constructed drain that cut across Alihame.
