A Federal High Court in Abuja, has ordered that the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, Godwin Emefiele be remanded in Kuje Prison till November 22, 2023 when his bail motion will be determined.
Justice Hamza Muazu gave the order after Emefiele’s lead counsel, Matthew Burkaa SAN, moved the application for bail which was opposed by the Federal Government lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo.
The order became necessary after the judge heard arguments for and against from both counsels. He said a bench ruling could not be delivered in view of the many authorities cited by the two parties.
Justice Muazu said he needed time to study the authorities and peruse through the exhibits supplied by Emefiele to support his request for bail.
