OKPANAM, Delta State – The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTCA), in partnership with the Okpanam Youth Organisation (OYO), carried out a rigorous enforcement of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, on Saturday.
Led by DSCTCA’s Head of Environment, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, and OYO President, Comdr. Fidelis Okonma, officials swept through major streets and neighborhoods to ensure full compliance. Residents and business owners were ordered to clean their surroundings, unclog blocked drains, and dispose of refuse properly, with those failing to participate receiving stern reminders of their civic duties.
To bolster the cleanup, the Agency deployed essential tools, including wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and hand gloves, to support volunteers and residents in the field.
Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Nwosu stressed that sanitation is critical to safeguarding public health and preventing environmental hazards, urging locals to adopt daily cleanliness habits rather than waiting for the monthly ritual. He praised Comdr. Okonma and the youth group for their mobilization efforts, noting that community collaboration is key to a cleaner capital territory.
The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining hygiene standards through continuous public awareness, strategic partnerships, and strict enforcement of environmental regulations across the Delta State Capital Territory.
