Delta APC to chase Okowa out in 2019, as malfunctioning DJ appliances almost marred caucus inauguration

The ceremony put in place by Delta state chapter of the All Progressive congress (APC) today, Friday, August 04, 2017 in Asaba, to inaugurate its caucus committees overcame an initial wobbly start when electrical appliances meant to power the microphones and loud speaker gadgets failed, throwing the organizers into a frenzy and causing party faithful anxious moments.
It was an embarrassing situation with notable party chieftains seated waiting almost endlessly for the malfunctioning old gadgets of the local DJ to be put right.
At the event were chieftains of the party, including Minister of state for Petroleum, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Eyo, Ita, South-South chairman of APC, State chairman, Jones Ode Erue, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Chief Hycinth Enuha, Chief Adolo Okotie-Eboh, Rt. Hon. Doris Uboh, Chief Frank Kokori, Air Vice Marshall Ajobeni (rtd), Jaro Egbo Egbo, among numerous others.
Overcoming the hiccup occasioned by the malfunctioning electrical appliances, Dr. Kachikwu who was frugal with words that were devoid of the usual political niceties and razzmatazz, made only three sentences: He said:“I am humbled by the fact that in less than five months the party leaders came together to secure peace.
“It will take the collective responsibility of all the leaders of APC in Delta state to maintain this peace.
“Our miss is to deliver on the national mandate to produce the next governor come 2019 in Delta State.”
The State chairman of the party, Jones Erue pleaded for forgiveness from those he could have wrong in the past, urging them to understand that as a human being he could not perfect. “Please forgive me for I am human,” he pleaded.
Expressing joy that peace and reconciliation has finally been achieved, Erue urged the party faithful and leaders to return to their units and work to deliver. He said: “For 18 years, we have suffered a common faith. Our common patrimony is being misused. Now, we have a destiny to effect a change to take this state (Delta) to the next level. Our goal is that an APC governor will occupy Osadebe House, Asaba in 2019.
“Ward chairmen, local government chairmen, you have to sit up and call meetings. Change time is now. As you go back, talk to your neighbor that APC will make amends; that APC will ensure that the perennial flooding of Asaba will be reversed. That APC will chase poverty away from Delta State,” Erue said, declaring that the Herold is dead. To which the congregation chorused in acknowledgement, saying “The Herold is dead.”
Eyo Ita, the South-South chairman, while acknowledging that peace has returned to APC in Delta State asked rhetorically, “how long shall this peace be?” And the party faithful said “Forever.”
Expressing the hope that lone hanging fruit in the state will be plucked come 2019 by the party, Ita argued that it was not enough to call ourselves names, but that the important thing expected of a party member and leader is that of showcasing his worth in the party by winning votes during elections.
He reminded APC members to understand that the inauguration of the caucus committees is a consolidation of peace, progress in the party, even as he urged the members to do their best for the party in the 2019 elections.
Meanwhile, Chief Hycinth Enuha while answering questions from journalists, denounced the Governor Okowa-led administration in the state, saying: “We are going to chase Okowa away from Government House, Asaba, and put in place a purposeful government that will be for the benefit of all Deltans.
“What has the Okowa government done? Taking a debt of N60 billion, and they are still going to take more,” Chief Enuha asked sarcastically.
In all, a total of 14 committees with their chairmen were inaugurated at the APC state secretariat on Nnebisi Road, Asaba. They include the following: State caucus committee, Delta North Senatorial District Committee, Delta South Senatorial District Committee, Delta Central Senatorial District Committee, Finance committee, Strategy, research and policy committee, Publicity committee, Grassroots mobilization committee, Contact committee, Election committee, Reconciliation committee, Welfare committee, security committee and Youth mobilization committee.
At the meeting, the chorus of the party was: “APC, Change Okowa.”
