Delta Investment Club launched in Asaba to mobilize diaspora, local capital for State’s economic growth

Asaba, Delta State — A new initiative aimed at harnessing the financial power of Delta State indigenes at home and abroad was unveiled over the weekend with the official launch of the Delta Investment Club in Asaba.

The Club, which is designed to mobilize resources for strategic investments within the state, was launched by its President, Mr. Omas Robinson, a Deltan based in the United Kingdom.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Robinson stated that the primary objective of the Club is to financially empower Deltans in the Diaspora and at home by investing in identified profitable opportunities within Delta State and across the globe.

In a statement signed by the Club’s Director of Publicity, Mr. Pius Mordi, Mr. Robinson commended the State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, for creating a conducive environment for investment. He cited the Governor’s organization of a well-attended Delta State Investment and Economic Summit, the establishment of a $100 million de-risk fund for investors, and the Governor’s personal attendance at all summit sessions alongside his Executive Council and local government chairmen.

“It is therefore time for Deltans to take advantage of these investment opportunities as a team to put resources together through this Club in order to harness the available opportunities in Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Blue Economy, Solid minerals and other sectors in Delta State,” Robinson said.

The Club President revealed that 1,500 Deltans have been earmarked to be integrated as shareholders in the Club’s first phase of investments free of charge. He noted that once this first tranche is fully empowered, another 1,500 individuals will be admitted as new shareholders.

While the Club prioritizes Deltans, Mr. Robinson added that private investors from other parts of Nigeria, the Diaspora, and the international community are welcome to participate by deploying capital or partnering with their professional expertise.

To ensure the safety and transparency of investments, the Club is partnering with banks, insurance companies, and firms with requisite expertise. It will also hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) every year to oversee the management of investor funds.
