Available at www.deltachat.com.ng, Mr. Osiobe said the platform brings together features commonly associated with popular social media networks such as Facebook, X and Instagram, offering multiple interactive tools within a single online environment.
What users can do
According to Osiobe, members can publish status updates and stories, sharing text-based and visual content with their connections. The platform also offers private direct messaging for convenient communication and information exchange.
Users can build their networks by sending and accepting friend requests and by following other members to keep up with their activities. A microblogging feature supports short-form posts and interactive conversations, similar to the posting format on X., he said.
Delta Chat also allows users to upload, publish and share photos and videos. Push notifications keep members informed about messages, interactions and other platform activities, while bulk notification and messaging functions are available for authorised use.
Beyond local connections, the platform is built to foster community building and global interaction, enabling members to engage with others across different locations and form digital communities beyond geographical boundaries.
A showcase of local capacity
According to the platform’s media message, Delta Chat demonstrates local innovation, indigenous digital capacity and the Delta State Government’s commitment to supporting homegrown technology solutions.
The platform, Osiobe pointed out reflects the potential of locally developed digital products to combine several social networking and communication capabilities in one integrated environment. It also highlights opportunities for developing technology-driven solutions that encourage digital participation, connectivity and innovation.
“The broader message is that Delta State is not only embracing the digital revolution but also creating opportunities for homegrown technology development and indigenous participation in the digital economy,” them stated. Interested users can visit www.deltachat.com.ng to explore the platform.
