Coordinator of the Forum of Delta State NGOs and member of the Governing Board of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Deacon Okezi Odugala has called on Deltans and residents from every part of the globe working and living in the State to enrol in the State’s Contributory Health Scheme for guaranteed health insurance coverage for themselves and family.

Deacon Odugala while commending Delta State for being a frontline state in implementing the national health insurance scheme by domesticating and implementing it with visible transparency and accountability, said we still need to do more to ensure it covers all citizens, especially those in the rural areas.

He also called for the support of all stakeholders to ensure massive patronage of the scheme as it is good for safeguarding their health from financial stress as the enrolment fee of N7,000 a year is affordable and highly subsidized.

While also commending the foresight of the former Governor of Delta State, Senator lfeanyi Arthur Okowa for signing the bill into law and establishing the Commission in year 2016, he appreciated the great work done by the past and present management ably led by Dr Austine Obidi, the Chairman and Olorogun Dr Isaac Akpoveta, the Director General for the great and impactful job so far at the commission in delivering sustainable health insurance services.

“We can see progressive efforts that need to be sustained by all Deltans in embracing the health insurance scheme by enrolling as beneficiaries,” Deacon Odugala said.

He advised that the provision of top notch health services under the scheme must be doubled and sustained.

“As a civil society player l want to passionately appeal to Deltans and our friends to sign into the scheme as it is clearly implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals most especially Goal 3, which is Good Health Well-Being for All and the MORE agenda of the present administration.
