NDC fixes Presidential nomination fee at N60m, grants discounts to women, PWD aspirants

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has approved a new schedule of nomination and expression of interest fees for aspirants seeking elective offices on the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 general elections, with presidential hopefuls expected to pay a total of N60 million.

In a statement jointly signed by the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and the Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu Esq., the party said the approved fees were part of preparations for what it described as a transparent and credible primary election process.

According to the breakdown released on Tuesday, aspirants seeking the presidency under the NDC platform are to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form.

Governorship aspirants are expected to pay N10 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N20 million for the Nomination Form, bringing the total to N30 million.

For Senate aspirants, the Expression of Interest Form was fixed at N3 million, while the Nomination Form will cost N5 million.

House of Representatives aspirants are to pay N2 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N4 million for the Nomination Form, while aspirants for State Houses of Assembly will pay N1 million and N1.5 million respectively.

The party, however, announced concessions for female aspirants and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) as part of efforts to encourage inclusiveness and broader participation in the political process.

Under the arrangement, female aspirants are to pay 50 per cent of the approved fees across all categories, while PWD aspirants will pay only 25 per cent.

The NDC leadership said the measures were aimed at ensuring the emergence of competent candidates capable of leading the country and strengthening democratic governance.

“The party remains committed to a transparent and credible primary election process capable of producing competent candidates for the 2027 general elections,” the statement added.
