Okowa challenges Christians on Evangelism


Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has described evangelism as one of the greatest reasons Christians are in this world.
The Governor gave the description Sunday (23/04/17) at a thanksgiving Mass in honour of Mrs Mary Otakudemu Duvbiama, deceased mother-in-law of the Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Marshal Umukoro.
The service which was also, attended by a retinue of government functionaries and politicians, took place at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ekakpamre, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the Governor, “we came into this world to evangelize; in whatever we do, we should impact on the lives of others; in whatever we do, we must try to win souls to God.”
He thanked those who identified with the Chief Judge on the loss of his mother-in-law saying, “Justice Umukoro is a good man, thank you for showing him love.”
Rev. Fr. William Egedegbe had in a homily, urged sinners to depart from their ways and reconcile themselves with God to enable them make heaven.
According to the Priest, “No matter how dark our past might be, the doors of mercy are always open.
“The mercy of God endures forever, the love of The Lord is everlasting; Jesus came and died on the Cross and introduced the Sacrament of Reconciliation, so, when you come to the church and tell God, I have sinned and I am sorry, your sins are forgiven,” he said.
Rev. Fr. Egedegbe continued, “All that we need to do is to also show mercy to those who have wronged us because, blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.”
He emphasized that Christians should not be selective of those who they show mercy to but, have a good heart towards every one.
